Cornerback Ahmed Plummer left the San Francisco 49ers' game against Seattle on Saturday with a neck injury.
Plummer, a fourth-year starter, was hurt while blocking during an interception return by linebacker Jeff Ulbrich. Plummer was on the turf for several minutes before walking gingerly to the sideline.
X-rays on Plummer's neck were negative, but he was ruled out of the game. Plummer had four interceptions for 85 yards and a touchdown this season.
Earlier, Seattle lost starting guard Chris Gray to a knee injury.
Two police officers with machine guns were stationed at one entrance, but the New England Patriots refused to say if security procedures had been tightened for their game Saturday.
The national threat alert was raised last Sunday to a high Code Orange.
``We have tight security for all our games,'' Patriots spokesman Stacey James said. He declined to say if additional measures were taken for the game against the Buffalo Bills, won by New England 31-0.

James said spectators have been patted down and have had their bags checked
upon entering Gillette Stadium throughout the season.
The officers were stationed at the media entrance. Unlike in past games, reporters were patted down as they entered.
But a check of parking lots, gates and the upper deck showed no unusual security measures.
